One Year Ago: The London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony

27th July 2012, 20.12:

Isles of Wonder, the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, starts with a scenery of a Green and Pleasant Land and various pre-show acts and activities.

It was followed by a countdown, by the magnificent sound of the huge Olympic Bell at 21.00, by pastoral scenes on a beautiful meadow in the middle of the Olympic Stadium, and by four songs sung by children.

Kenneth Branagh then entered the stage as Isambard Kingdom Brunel and assured a world-wide audience of hundreds of millions to not be afeared, using the beautiful words of playwright William Shakespeare.

Then Pandemonium began.

There are no words to describe what happened in the following fifteen minutes.
