Drummers March to Save Lewisham Hospital

A group of Pandemonium Drummers joined a protest march in support of Lewisham Hospital together with performers from other London 2012 Ceremonies segments, such as the NHS nurses.

Lewisham Hospital faces the closure of its A&E and maternity wards, and thousands of people rallied together on 26th January to speak out against this move.

Last year, Danny Boyle, the Creative Director of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, emphasised the importance of the protest culture, and his ceremony celebrated the NHS as a valued national achievement.

The participation of the drummers along with other ceremonies cast is therefore a sign of the continuing legacy of London 2012 in its various forms.
